Iconography in thrillers
Thriller movie posters are all extremely similar. The settings of the pictures can range from forests to buildings, normally in the posters the building is empty and deserted whereas in deforest there is many different things to focus on. Windows are also used to show people spying/ looking through. The text on the posters, whether it is the film name or who stars in it, is usually bold and capitalized to stand out. The color pilot used on these posters are usually white, black and red. The weather used is normally gloomy on consists of thunder, lightning and rain. Black silhouettes and shadows are used to create the effect of a ghost. One of the main features of a thriller movie poster a weapons, many of the posters show knives, guns and machetes. The other main feature of a thriller movie poster is the use of hands and eyes. Hands are used to cover the face just to show the eyes, both only one side of the face or only the top/ bottom half. The eyes in the images also show tears.
